Very important project for a complete and tailored installation of paint / flash off /curing of large parts.
THE CHALLENGE
AEROMETALLIC, a major supplier in the surface treatment of aircraft parts, has decided to focus on large parts.
The aim was to integrate existing technologies of energy savings, humidity and temperature control during paint application, breathable air for operators, means of lifting / translating operators, homogeneity of temperature during the curing phase, light consistency and ergonomic safety, in an installation of booths with the most demanding technical specifications to meet the requirements of major aeronautical manufacturers.
THE RESULT
In record time, ASTRA completed the design, manufacture, assembly and calibration of a 30 meters long installation .
In order not to reduce the usable area of the plant, it was obvious to place the machinery outside the workshop and above the booths with access and platforms according to standards. The air supply unit of the spray booth includes humidity and temperature control through high tech humidifying panels and autonomous direct gas burners for an air flow of more than 50,000 m3/h. Electrohydraulic trolleys for the operators allow quick transfers with personalized safety accessories.
The distribution of fluids (compressed air / breathable air) is ensured by a suspended system from the filter ceiling and flexible hoses. The steel grates carries special guides for the running of carts with components to be painted. LED 6,500 K Lightning technology offer the highest and uniform luminescence at 50 cms above ground. Digital control panels and luminous beacons allow to know at any time the state of each booth. The highest temperatures in the oven are maintained with a differential of + - 8ºC thanks to the adequate air renovations and speed.
The paint box is insulated and equipped with a filtration table to facilitate application tests. All doors have been motorized for easier and safer carts transfers from one booth to another.
Every single detail was taken in account to raise this installation among the European references in the aeronautical sector.
